Creating Character in the Growing Years
Under the leadership and vision of Anita Collins, the owner/director of Growing Years Christian School and Child Care Center, character education curriculum has been developed for preschool through first grades. Separate kits for home or school are now available! A separate company was formed called, Creating Character in the Growing Years, with the express purpose of continuing the development of teaching tools and curriculum that will help to instill good character traits in children. The curriculum is literature-based and introduces nine positive character traits, such as respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, and citizenship, using stories featuring a family of rabbits called the Peddlesfoots.
As Boffen and Mariana Peddlesfoot, and their three young rabbit children, Scuff, Alexa, and Todd—learn about values through their exciting, funny, and sometimes touching exploits, so will the children who hear about them through their stories.
In addition to the stories, curriculum has been written for both a classroom setting and a Parent Kit for home use. The school curriculum offers a month-at-a-glance calendar for each month of the school year to help with organization, along with lots of reproducible activities. The lessons will reinforce the character traits introduced in the stories with journaling ideas, art projects, puppet skits, and more. The Parent Guide offers many of the same ideas for home to make the learning fun!
