Creating
Character in the Growing Years Featuring the Peddlesfoot
Family
Children
killing children and environments where harassment,
lying, cheating, and bullying are the norm should
not be tolerated but need to be eliminated from
our society. Teaching moral reasoning, emotional
control, prosocial behaviors, and positive personal
and civic values otherwise known as “good
character” to young children cannot be taken
for granted. It is our utmost responsibility to
tackle this monumental task immediately.
Creating
Character in the Growing Years Featuring the Peddlesfoots
Family is an excellent curriculum that teaches these
essential character traits in a planned, systematic
manner that can be used in the home, school, and/
or community. This exciting series revolves around
five lively rabbits who encounter many opportunities
to make choices. Their choices involve a conscientious
effort to develop good moral character that leads
to lifelong moral decision making and positive conduct.
Each episode with the Peddlesfoots Family builds
upon previous skills necessary to help young children
understand how “good character” develops.
The curriculum provides repetition, music, and multiple
approaches to learning which fits perfectly with
the current literature supporting brain based learning.
Martin
Luther King’s eloquent statement: “I
have a dream that my four children will one day
live in a nation where they will not be judged by
the color of the skin, but by the content of their
character,” identifies the importance that
character plays in creating a caring and respectful
society. Integrating this curriculum in your everyday
life will provide you with effective guiding principles,
strategies, and techniques that will lead to a positive
caring citizenry with good moral character. Children
are only twenty-five percent (25%) of our population
but one hundred percent (100%) of our future. How
they treat us and each other is of critical importance.
Thus, enhancing their character early on will make
that crucial difference in everyone’s well
being.
